"Water and Stone- Dialogue between water and stone", is the theme of the 2018 edition of the annual Marmomac fair held in Verona( Italy). In this exhibition, well known designers, in collaboration with Italian stone and machinery companies, get together to display projects in stone elaborated using the latest technologies.
The fair Rocalia, held last December, 2017 in Lyon (France), served as a window to creativity and new applications in natural stone. One of these applications is furniture in homes. Both the exhibitions organised by the fair and some stands in the fair showed interesting creations that we highlight here.
Few people would not have not heard of Antonio López, the greatest living Spanish painter. While his fame derives from his paintings, it was he who designed the marble sculpture “La Mujer de Almanzora”, (“The woman of Almanzora”, in English), the highest in Spain, recently completed and installed during the summer of 2017 in Olula del Río (Almeria).
How many middle class homes exist on the planet? Perhaps difficult to calculate, since the definition of middle class varies from person to person, country to country. An approximate number, with ' middle class' being defined in the western sense, would perhaps lead to number somewhere between 300 to 500 million. Assuming every such home has a dining table, this would also be the number of dining tables in the world.
"KASHUBA DESIGN, a Russian company specialised in luxury interior design and architecture, makes extravagant use of natural stone to highlight its exclusiveness and refinement in its projects. This photoreport of a luxury apartment in Moscow in the Art Decó style is one example. Noble colours, marble, onyx, natural wood, patterned glass and crystal, gilded and silvery details create an atmosphere of luxury and comfort.
Natural stone is the real protagonist in a beauty salon called Bambu, located in Alicante (Spain): The designers, Pardo Stone Design, in a profusion of imagination, have created a beauty salon using natural stone with designs inspired by the images of flowers that figure in the old currency of Vietnam, reproducing them throughout the salon, from the entrance, in the floors and the tables.
When summer arrives, it is time to enjoy the good weather in that special place which those among us who are fortunate to possess- a garden. The tables and benches made of natural stone are perfect to create a unique and original corner in our garden. They never deteroriate with the passage of time, are easy to maintain, and create a special and spectacular atmosphere. A 100% natural product in a 100% natural environment. A perfect match.
