A spectacular project for Spain’s cultural heritage: Goya Museum in Zaragoza

We are referring to the refurbishment of the Ibercaja Foundation’s Goya Museum in Zaragoza, in which the Godoy Maceira Group has been involved in creating the new stone façade for the entrance from the Plaza del Pilar.

It comprises 126 solid limestone blocks, each 2.70 m high and weighing 850 kg, into which we have carved fragments of Goya’s engravings, digitised from the original copper plates.

Produced at our facilities using 3D machinery on limestone, the pieces feature bas-relief engravings created through various machining techniques and hand-finished to achieve a variety of tones and textures in the designs.

We are proud to be part of key projects for our culture and heritage, where history, art and modernity come together. The Goya Museum in Zaragoza is the only place in the world where all the series of engravings from 1778 to 1825 are on permanent display.

We owe this opportunity to the trust placed in us by our colleagues at Fondoterra and their manager, José Luis Fondón Mercader.
