The granite mining company Freeworld, based in Chennai ( India) highlights Lavender Blue, a granite which it has been mining in Barampur, in the eastern state of Orissa, as a project material. Lavender Blue is a very hard and uniform material which provides good polish. Freeworld has been mining this material since 2014 and current production capacity is around 500 to 700 cubic metres per month. Blocks of Lavender Blue have been regularly exported to China in recent years where the material has been processed for use in several projects. About 2000 cubic metres have been supplied to processing factories for its use in the Abu Dhabi airport. Slabs of 3 metres x 2 metres are easily available with this material. The closest port from where Lavender Blue blocks are shipped for the export markets is Vizag.
The company Freeworld, founded in 1992 as a trading company expanded into mining of granite blocks in 2005, and has been regularly exporting blocks to companies in Europe, China, Taiwan and Japan. Apart from Lavender Blue the company Freeworld also operates quarries of other granites such as Tan Brown and Maple Red, located in the state of Telengana and of which it has 2 quarries, Red Multicolour, located in the state of Karnataka, the granite Vizag Blue, located in Andhra Pradesh, and a Black granite quarry in the state of Tamil Nadu.
